Congratulations on your growing family! Bringing home a new baby is an exciting time, but it can also come with a lot of questions and uncertainty. At Cradle Thru College Care (CTCC), we are here to support you every step of the way—from your baby's first days in the hospital through childhood, adolescence, and beyond.
We are proud to have cared for Kansas City families since 1947, with many of our patients growing up and returning to bring their own children to our practice. Our goal is to partner with you, provide evidence-based guidance, and help you feel confident as you navigate life with your newborn.
At CTCC, we believe newborn care should be personal. That's why we intentionally schedule longer newborn appointments, allowing plenty of time to answer questions, address feeding concerns, and support new parents during this important transition.
Hospital Newborn Care
Our providers care for newborns at:
- AdventHealth Shawnee Mission
- Overland Park Regional Medical Center (OPR)
- Menorah Medical Center
If your baby is born at one of these hospitals, simply let the hospital staff know that you have chosen Cradle Thru College Care as your baby's pediatrician. The hospital will notify our team, and one of our providers will see your baby during your hospital stay, monitor their progress, and help guide you through those first important days.
If your baby is born at another hospital, just give our office a call after delivery and we will help you schedule your baby's first appointment.
Your Baby's First Visit
Most newborns are seen in our office within 1–3 days after leaving the hospital.
Because we intentionally schedule longer newborn appointments, families have plenty of time to discuss feeding, sleep, growth, and any concerns that arise during those first few weeks. We want every parent to leave feeling heard, supported, and confident in caring for their new baby.
During this visit, we will:
- Check your baby's weight and growth
- Assess feeding and hydration
- Evaluate for jaundice
- Review newborn screening results
- Answer questions about sleep, feeding, stooling, and normal newborn behaviors
- Discuss what to expect during the first few weeks at home
No question is too small when you're caring for a newborn, and we encourage parents to bring a list of concerns to discuss. Our goal is for you to leave feeling informed, supported, and reassured.
Feeding & Breastfeeding Support
Feeding concerns are among the most common challenges new parents face, and you don't have to navigate them alone.
Our team includes Certified Breastfeeding Specialist Dr. Aimy Patel, who provides personalized guidance for breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, supplementation, and combination feeding.
Whether you're struggling with latch issues, concerns about milk supply, pumping questions, weight gain, or simply wondering if feeding is going as expected, we're here to help.
To support nursing families, our office also features a dedicated lactation room with a comfortable nursing chair and breastfeeding pillows, providing a private and welcoming space for feeding during your visit.
In addition, we carry a selection of Legendairy Milk® products at wholesale pricing, giving families convenient access to trusted lactation support products recommended by our team.

The newborn period comes with many questions, and we are experienced in helping families navigate concerns such as:
- Feeding difficulties
- Weight gain concerns

Same-Day Support When You Need It
Babies don't follow schedules, and concerns don't always arise during regular office visits.
We reserve same-day appointment availability every day our office is open so families can receive timely care when unexpected concerns arise. Our secure patient portal also allows families to communicate with our team, ask questions, and receive guidance between visits.

As a board-certified pediatrician, mother of two, and Certified Breastfeeding Specialist, Dr. Patel is passionate about helping families navigate the newborn period with confidence.
She understands firsthand the joys and challenges of caring for a new baby and enjoys partnering with parents as they develop their own feeding, sleep, and parenting routines.
