Summer is a fun time to play outside, swim, and enjoy the sunshine. But when it gets really hot, your body can get overheated - and that's not safe! 😓

This is called heat exhaustion, and it can happen when your body gets too hot and can't cool down. But don't worry - there are easy ways to stay safe and cool all summer long! 🧊💦

🚨 What Is Heat Exhaustion?

Heat exhaustion happens when your body loses too much water and salt from sweating. It can make you feel:

  • 😰 Super sweaty

  • 🤢 Nauseous or dizzy

  • 😵 Weak or tired

  • 😡 Grumpy or confused

  • 🤒 Hot, but with cool or clammy skin

If you don't cool down, heat exhaustion can turn into something very dangerous called heat stroke. That's why it's important to stop and cool off right away!

✅ How to Prevent Heat Exhaustion

1. Drink Lots of Water 💧
Drink water before, during, and after playing outside. Even if you're not thirsty, your body still needs it!

2. Take Breaks in the Shade 🌳
Rest in the shade or go inside to cool down every 20-30 minutes. Air conditioning is best!

3. Wear the Right Clothes 👒
Light-colored, loose clothes help keep you cool. Don't forget a

hat and sunglasses! 😎

4. Avoid the Hottest Time of Day 🕑
Try to play outside in the morning or evening when it's cooler. The sun is strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

5. Eat Cool Snacks 🍉
Fruits like watermelon, oranges, and cucumbers help keep you hydrated and taste yummy!

🛑 What to Do If You Think Someone Has Heat Exhaustion

  1. Move them to a cool place. 🧊

  1. Give them water or a sports drink.

  1. Use a cool cloth or fan to help them cool down.

  1. Call a doctor if they don't feel better quickly! 📞

Summer is awesome - let's make sure it's safe, too! 🌈💙
