💉 Preventing the Flu (and Colds, Too!)

  1. Get the flu shot!
Recommended for everyone 6 months and older - it's your best defense.

    1. Wash hands often 🧼
Teach kids to wash before meals, after school, and after using the restroom.

    1. Don't share food or drinks 🍎🥤
Germs love to hitch a ride on shared snacks or utensils.

    1. Cover coughs and sneezes 😷
      Use elbows, not hands!

    1. Keep hands away from face 🙅‍♀️
Especially the mouth, eyes, and nose.

    1. Stay home when sick 🚫🏫
Prevent spreading illness by keeping kids home until fever-free for 24 hours.

    🛌 Caring for Sick Kids

    • Keep them rested and hydrated

    • Offer age-appropriate fever reducers (as advised)

      • Use cool mist humidifiers to ease congestion

      • Call your pediatrician if symptoms last longer than expected or worsen

🩺 When to Call the Doctor

📞 Contact your provider if your child:

      • Has trouble breathing or fast breathing

      • Has a high fever lasting more than 3 days

      • Seems very weak, irritable, or not eating/drinking well

      • Has signs of dehydration (dry lips, no tears, few wet diapers)
